When I think of Ashwini Trust, Smile is the word that comes to my mind. The glittering little eyes filled with promise and confidence. The enthusiasm in the children to learn and grasp the knowledge. I feel ACT emphasis the fact that imparting Education at the right time is the key towards building a better world. It’s a great feeling to be associated with the journey towards reconciliation and enlightenment. - ACT Volunteer
I came to Ashwini Charitable Trust in the year 2003 when I was in VII standard. Ashwini has done many things for us - they pay fees, give school books, bags, take us for trips and the volunteers of the Trust teach us many subjects like Maths, English Grammar, Science etc. I can speak boldly in front of others, I have come to know many people from the corporate world. ACT has aslo created a bank account in my name so that I can deposit money in the bank. They also sent me for computer classes and now I can work on a computer confidently. ACT has done so much for me that I cannot express it in words. It is because of this Trust I got to study in a big college like St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bengaluru - Lakshmi B I B. Com. (ACT Alumni)

The ACT family – includes sponsors, trustees, volunteers, children, their parents et al with every attempt of theirs make me strongly believe in “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it...” It’s a benevolent work of charity and blessed are thy children. - ACT Supporter
ACT is a place - Being led by a Lady with immense WILL power , - supported by simple people with beautiful hearts rendering unconditional service, - Trusted with their kids by parents who want their kids to break away from generations of illiteracy - filled with Kids who are enthusiastic about grabbing all the opportunities being provided by ACT (simultaneously in different fields - education , performing arts etc.) and excelling in most of them.
I am not much of a computer person and i know this might sound tacky, but i have to tell you guys that the 1 hour 3 times a week that i spend with the little ones is the best thing that has happened to me. For a menopausal woman who has been cribbing about aches and pains for the last couple of years, i suddenly seem to be feeling fine when i am at the centre. I wish i was part of ACT much earlier. I didnt know what to expect the first day when i walked into the centre, but i was so pleasantly surprised seeing a bunch of happy, smiling and enthusiastic children. They are so wonderful and each one of them gives me so much pleasure ...... i could go on

When i think of ACT.. i think of the Giraffe, the elephant and the cute cartoons painted on the walls of the RC. They are so cute that whoever passes by will surely peep in to see what's the place about.. i get the picture of mother(s) welcoming me with so much of hope in her eyes that i ( a volunteer) would guide her child to become something better than she is ( better - financially and becoming independent ) . The Trustees, who appreciate any act, however small by done anybody (the volunteers, parents or kids ).. And most of all the loving kids.. so enthusiastic about learning and sharing .. Its a place where i learn and receive so much more than i teach and give.. Thanks sujata and bhavani..

As a child, you are constantly told how a good human being helps less fortunate people. Somewhere along the line you start thinking that just knowing this fact is good enough and the thought of actually getting out of your house and helping others doesn't even strike. Ma is the who I have to thank for making me take that step towards actually helping people. Thinking about it now, it wasn't me that helped the kids. The kids helped me. True, I taught them a few dance steps and true I attempted to teach a few of the little ones the sounds of alphabets but that's all. These kids (whom I can't really call kids given that some of them are older than me!!) have helped me so much more. You wouldn't believe the number of times their excitement has made me smile. During the dance rehearsals, their enthusiasm made my day!! I managed to drag myself out of the house on sleepy Sunday afternoons only so that i could receive the little ones' happy greetings and to play 'Candy Land' with Ma's students once she was done teaching them 🙂 . So, I guess I must admit my intentions are quite selfish. I came the first time because I wanted to help but I kept coming back because they made me happy.
Thanks to everyone here. I have really never had such a positive experience with an NGO. It was a great honor to work with you. I hope to return and wish you all and the children the best of luck until I do.
I have had such a great time working with the children at Ashwini. I will try to come back for many visits before I leave. To Sujata and Bhavani: you have done such a wonderful job. I am proud to be associated with Ashwini.

The trust is an amazing achievement; the children are all very talented and extremely lucky, as they have now been given opportunities by the trust. I have enjoyed my time greatly and will miss the children.

The efforts of the teachers as well as Ms. Sujata and Dr. Bhavani are absolutely astonishing. The kids are very eager to learn; much disciplined and speak excellent English. This organization has done extremely wonderful things for the children they sponsor.

This is my first experience with an organization like this, and I have had a really amazing and wonderful time. Every single one of the children have amazed and inspired me. You are all very special, and I wish you all the very best for the future.

I have worked with Volunteer org before (Red Cross, Lions etc) but none have impressed me such as Ashwini has done. Real commitment from both leaders and parents, it motivates my work to higher levels. People here really do care about other people.

The supreme efforts put in here are going to be result in great achievements. I wish ACT all the best, but with the presence levels of dedication and sincerity they just might not need it.

First, a little background info ... In October 2005 when we, the volunteers from Infineon, started our visits to ACT we were assigned to spend one-on-one time with a few children who were identified as kids who needed special attention. One of these children was Sangeetha Priya. She was a quiet and meek girl who would always stand with her eyes glued to the floor, afraid to look at the person she was talking to. Any question addressed to her would very quickly bring tears to her eyes. Several volunteers worked with her patiently to help her cope with her studies. At one point, she was being considered for transfer to NIOS, but some volunteers didn't want to give up on her and requested that she continue in the main stream and they would do their best to provide all the help she needed. She has now passed her SSLC exam and has successfully completed her 1st PUC. Last year, I was assigned to teach a spoken English class to all the senior students at ACT (studying in PUC or higher). One of the activities in this class was to stand up and speak for 2 minutes on a given topic. When it was Sangeetha Priya's turn, she stood up with a big smile, came and picked up the chit with the topic that she had to speak on and then started to speak, confidently looking around and making eye contact with everyone in the room! Yes, she made a lot of grammatical mistakes and veered off the topic at times, but that didn't stop her 🙂 . To me the most amazing thing was that she was standing there in front of 20 people and talking without any hesitation! Several volunteers had spent their time with her over the years and helped to build up her confidence with their love and patience and had transformed the tearful scared little child into a confident young girl. However, what happened after Sangeetha Priya finished her speech was what really touched my heart ... every other child in that room started clapping and saying "Very good, Sangeetha Priya" and she stood there beaming with pride. None of the other children got this kind of reaction to their speeches that day. The children all knew, and were sensitive to the fact, that this was a big achievement for Sangeetha Priya and acknowledged that with their applause. The change in Sangeetha Priya was not brought about by one single volunteer but with the efforts of many volunteers and it did not happen overnight, but took several years. I am sure you all must have seen several other success stories like this in the 10 years of ACT and I know we will continue to see a lot more thanks to the family of dedicated ACTeers!

" Akka...I will study hard and when I grow up..and get a job.....I will buy a cell phone...and the first person who I will call will be you ...". I dont know what I did to deserve that place in someone s heart, but i do know that ACT gave me an identity- "Madhulika Akka - the dance teacher" . An identity that I thought I would never get since I am one of the millions who are trapped in the corporate world. ACT only makes me feel very obliged and humble. It has given me a direction and loads of love - unconditional love, something that is rare, something that is too precious. Something that i will value till my last breath. Anyone can very well imagine what it means to me, I left Bangalore almost 2 years back but my identity still remains, Am still Madhulika akka, Am still an acteer, will always be..... We rock!!!
Ashwini Charitable Trust - “Lots and lots of joyous, happy and smiling faces welcoming me and greeting me with----Namaste Didi” when I enter the premises. I cannot describe to you or anyone what a transformation I go through at that moment just looking at them and listening to them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you ACT for the initiative and supporting the education for so many children. This is the best thing one can do for the society. Keep it up.
Very impressed and great to see the support .Act provides to the poor kids inspired to be a part.
Great initiative really touched by the approach to change the lives of young children
Today’s visit to the jail with the kids was a humbling experience. It was a perfect way to end my term with GS, a day out with the kids of ACT! Thank you!
I’m not good with kids ,but the kids are very encouraging, lovable I had a lot of fun with them coloring, painting and in general laughing and taking.
Very well behaved kids. Everyone had a very nice time; it was a picnic even for the volunteers. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Extremely energetic environment. Loved spending time with kids would love to volunteer.
I like the way you call them “our kids” It was a very pleasant experience. I hope to come back sometime.
This was an experience like never before, Different to any other ,as it was outdoor Community service, at least the one’s I’ve been to meant visiting a home teaching kids etc. But this was not just about teaching, but learning in the process. The kids here are brilliant well mannered and fun all the same . Good luck with the clean-up-the-area drive. Hope it all works well (and we were of some help)
It was a very good experience very good response from neighbourhood. Most people were more than willing to help and do their part for clean surrounding. Kids were also very excited talking about this awareness program.
A very good experience indeed. I went with Kavya and Harshini to Grasmere apartment and was delighted to see the enthusiasm when they were explaining the importance of garbage disposable. Divya has done a marvelous job. I really hope she fulfills her dream of a clean neighbourhood.
This has been a very enriching experience. I thought they were extremely creative especially when creating the dinosaur they displayed a wealth of talent and ingenuity. Also during the quiz round, they surprised all the volunteers with their quick answers. Would definitely love to come here again.
It has been a continued association with Ashwini and kids are amazing to interact with. I would like to take up mentoring for some of the kids.
It is one of the most memorable day in my life. It was a great experience and I have a feeling that I spent at least 1 day of life for noble cause. Surely I will be part of such of organization. All the best…… Thanks ACT.
It was a great day and really gives us a sense of responsibility. I truly feel now more that we can change lives of children. Let me try to keep it going in any way.
Lot of fun, very inspiring, I am thinking of being associated for a longer term.
It was a great experience once again you guys are doing a great job help it up.
This is an awesome mission I must say giving a life and education to children is the most beautiful gift to humanity. I had an amazing time here at ACT. I hope to come back. All the best to all future endeavours.
The children were all very sweet, well behaved and enthusiastic. I was touched by the way they help and care about each other.
Great experience, really amazing seeing their kids perform so well. They spoke well and were so loving and respectful. Keep up the great work. Will surely participate with the trust more.
It was a lovely day, amazed to see the creativity of the kids and just see them talk, sing , perform without any exhibition. One thing I would not want to miss her: Very very well mannered kids and so willing to take care of each other.
Had a great time with the kids here. Hats off to you for inculcating such manners and caring and sharing attitude with them.
I enjoyed every second of my day here with these kids. Please do call me, would like to do something which would help.
I had a very nice time with the children, making a puppet. I also learnt how to work in a team and also learnt how to make puppets with a bunch of very talented children. I would like to visit the charity again and spend some time with these talented children.

This was an awesome experience. It was my 2nd CTW, but really enjoyed it. I was able to get in so well with the kids. The best part was me learning stitching and puppet making from the kids. Just loved the CTW.
It was a fun filled day. The experience was amazing and brilliant. The children are super enthusiastic and eager to learn. They are well-behaved and respect their elders. The organization is well-maintained. The students are encouraged to give their best.
